Learn how to make Kala Jamun at home from our chef Smita on Ruchkar Mejwani. Kala Jamun is a popular Indian sweet dessert loved by all! It is prepared with mawa / khawa, milk powder and sugar syrup. <br /> <br />Ingredients: <br /> <br />3 Cups Sugar <br />1 & 1/2 Cups Water <br />250 gms Mawa / Khawa <br />1/4th Cup Maida <br />3 tbsp Milk Powder <br />3 tbsp Arrowroot Powder <br />1 tsp Cardamom Powder <br />Water <br />Oil for deep frying <br /> <br />Method: <br /> <br />- To make the sugar syrup heat a pan. Add sugar & water. <br />- Let the sugar melt completely. When the water comes to a boil & has thickened reduce the flame. Check if the syrup has reached one thread consistency. Switch off the flame. <br />- Add cardamom powder in the sugar syrup. Give a stir. <br />- In a bowl add mawa / khawa. Mix it gently with your palms. <br />- Add milk powder, all purpose flour, arrowroot powder & water. Mix everything well and make a soft dough. <br />- Make small portions of the dough and roll them into a ball. <br />- Heat oil for deep frying. <br />- Deep fry all the kala jamuns on a dark brown color. Transfer them in a bowl and allow them to cool down a bit. <br />- Add the ready kala jamuns to the sugar syrup and let them soak in the syrup for one and half hour. <br />- Delicious Kala Jamuns are ready to be served.
